This pair of bowls was turned from the crotch of the mesquite branch I used for a the Guksi. I split the crotch down the middle and made a bowl from each half. Before the inside was turned, I burned some Lichtenburg fractal figures all around them.
They are 6” diameter and about 2 1/4” high and finished with Danish Oil and clear lacquer.

cheers, Jim

Thanks Tony, Tony, John and Bob!!

I just got a notice from the AAW (American Association of Woodturners) that they have banned the fractal burning practice because 4 people got killed from it in the last 2 years. I’m in the wood turners guild but not a member of AAW and I’ll not stop doing it because I think I do it safely!.

Cheers, Jim

Love the way the fractal color compliments the color of the wood. Beauties!

Nice bowls Jim. You must love being out there getting access to that mesquite. I would believe you take precautions when doing the fractal burning. It’s worth the results.

Some more exceptional work Jim!

These make me think how cool the fractal burns on that mesquite would look filled with turquoise….
